Nuclos in the network for open source business solutions in German-speaking countries

Sauerlach (Munich), July 09, 2010 – Novabit Informationssysteme GmbH is a new member of Lisog, the network for open source business solutions in German-speaking countries. It is planned to integrate the open source ERP toolkit Nuclos(www.nuclos.de) as part of the open source stack of Lisog. Lisog networks providers and users from the open source sector who work together to develop solutions for current IT and open source topics. Nuclos strengthens the network’s portfolio and expertise in the field of open source ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software.

Lisog demonstrates that open source is a viable business model with working meetings, events and project groups of its partners throughout the German-speaking world. “We were always on the lookout for a convincing and powerful open source ERP solution. Novabit offers this with Nuclos. We are delighted with this addition to our network,” explains Thomas Uhl, CEO of Lisog.

Professional Open Source

With Nuclos, companies can very easily set up individual ERP solutions. The system does not provide a fixed, unchangeable range of functions, but offers mechanisms for defining these individually – a significant difference to other open source ERP products. To this end, the ERP toolkit already contains all the building blocks for mapping any ERP business processes and requirements for business software. These can be put together in a short time to create finished solutions, so-called nuclets. Nuclos is Professional Open Source: the software is centrally coordinated and quality assured by companies that do not finance themselves through license revenues, but exclusively through professional services in the area of business-critical use of the applications.

Broad installation base

Ramin Goettlich, Managing Director of Novabit, knows that in addition to a professional developer and user network, a credible installation base is also necessary when using open source ERP systems in order to gain the trust of users: “Very few of the existing open source ERP solutions can boast a significant number of reference installations. Nuclos, on the other hand, is already proving itself in business-critical use at a large number of companies, corporations and public authorities. We are certain that we at Lisog can make an important contribution to the spread of open source software in the ERP environment.”

Network of business, administration and science

The Lisog network currently has 108 members – including leading IT companies, small and medium-sized IT companies and users from public administration and business. These include well-known IT providers such as IBM, Novell, Red Hat, Collax, Topalis, Abraxas, Agami and Integratio. Public sector institutions such as the cities of Schwäbisch Hall and Freiburg and the Swiss federal administration are represented as users, as are banks and insurance companies such as Baader Wertpapierhandelsbank and Stuttgarter Lebensversicherung. Lisog’s scientific partners include universities in Fribourg (Switzerland), Heilbronn (Germany), Karlsruhe (Germany) and Linz (Austria). In addition to the office in Stuttgart, Lisog has contact offices in Berlin, Hamburg, Palo Alto, Toronto, Vienna and Zurich.
