Industrialization of software production: individual applications in record time

Novabit Nucleus enables short release cycles with high customization and software quality /
Prototypes already productive applications

Sauerlach (Munich), July 20, 2009 – Standard software or a customized solution? When IT managers are faced with the task of mapping flexible business processes in the IT landscape, they often ask themselves this question. For reasons of time and budget, they often opt for a standard solution that does not adequately meet their requirements. The software expert Novabit (www.novabit.de) shows a way out: with its Nucleus Suite platform, the company enables the industrialization of software production. Individual applications can be developed within a very short time, at a fraction of the cost, with short release cycles and a high level of customizability and software quality. In most cases, the first prototype can already be used productively.

Generic mechanisms

Nucleus makes it possible to develop prototypes and productive applications within just a few days. The prerequisite for this is the strict separation of business and IT, i.e. the detachment of the business logic from the technical platform of an application. The basis for this is the generic mapping of processes and workflows in companies. Recurring mechanisms in software are abstracted to such an extent that the application-specific business logic no longer requires the development of separate software code. It is stored in metadata and standard components and can be configured, modified and extended at runtime while the system is in use. Adaptation and parameterization no longer require IT expertise, but only knowledge of the technical requirements. Ultimately, it can even be carried out by the user themselves.

Universal application possibilities

A number of companies are already relying on the advantages of the Nucleus Suite to quickly cover a wide variety of business processes or to standardize IT landscapes and applications and implement them on the same basis. Typical areas of use for the universal application include project administration and planning, project processing, management and controlling, task management, document entry and posting, cost center accounting, liquidity planning and product management. Other possible applications include order management, facility management, customer relationship management (CRM), the mapping and control of approval processes, investment planning, inquiry management and invoice verification as well as flexible ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) solutions. Cleverly used, the platform is also suitable for quickly and efficiently creating process transparency and optimizing processes.

Leased line management to complaint management

At the E-Plus Group, for example, Nucleus controls all processes relating to the management of leased lines, known as leased line management, and supports other business processes in transport network planning. However, the application possibilities of the universal platform are as varied as the possible requirements themselves. Oettinger Brauerei GmbH, one of the largest breweries in Germany, uses it to map complaint and claims management, i.e. the processing of customer complaints and the associated workflows. Judith Härtle, Head of IT at Oettinger, confirms: “After a one-hour meeting in which we defined the requirements, the software experts from Novabit were able to realize a prototype within a few days, which already implemented the most important requirements in a fully functional way. That convinced us.” At one of Germany’s largest outpatient health, therapy and service companies, Nucleus supports the management of personnel and vehicle fleets, the billing of premiums and the transfer of data to the tax office.

Productive prototypes

“With the Nucleus Suite, we have a generic platform with which we can map any business process and implement the prototype for it within a few days after a short briefing,” explains Ramin Goettlich, Managing Partner of Novabit. However, the prototypes are much more than prototypes for demonstrating the functionality of the system. They can already be used productively as the first release. This enables companies to react quickly and agilely to changing business processes. They are provided with an individual solution that precisely meets their requirements and can be further adapted at any time during runtime.”
