ERP construction kit Nuclos part of the Open Source Integration Initiative

Group of companies and MFG Baden-Württemberg receive federal funding for SMEs to integrate open source business software

Sauerlach (Munich), March 10, 2011 – Novabit Informationssysteme GmbH is participating in the newly founded Open Source Integration Initiative (OSII) with its open source ERP construction kit Nuclos(www.nuclos.de). 16 companies from the software sector and research institutes are working together in a network managed by MFG Baden-Württemberg to integrate their business applications on an open source basis. The aim of the initiative is to offer user companies an alternative to proprietary business software with mutually compatible and cost-effective open source solutions. The OSII is funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) via the “Central Innovation Program for SMEs”.

Consistent modular system

Nuclos strengthens the initiative’s portfolio and expertise in the field of open-source ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software. The modular ERP system enables companies to create individual business solutions very easily and cost-effectively. The system does not provide a fixed, unchangeable range of functions, but offers mechanisms for defining these individually – a significant difference to other ERP systems. Ramin Göttlich, Managing Director of Novabit, explains: “As the leading provider of open source ERP in German-speaking countries, we help companies to free themselves from their dependence on proprietary software. We also promote the idea that users can adapt their business software to their processes and needs at any time with little effort. Our ERP toolkit offers them a secure framework for this. Our participation in the Open Source Integration Initiative is a further step for us on the way to promoting flexible and mutually compatible business solutions. This is a logical extension of our modular principle.”
