Affordable customized software for small and medium-sized companies?

Create your own business software with a universal service factory – without IT knowledge and at the price of standard software

Sauerlach (Munich), October 09, 2009 – Business process management software developed specifically for their requirements has so far been an unaffordable dream for small and medium-sized companies. They continue to rely on standard software to map their processes, such as corporate planning or customer relationship management, usually more poorly than well. A new type of software development is now making the dream of affordable individual applications come true.

When it comes to mapping their business processes, small and micro companies in particular have to make compromises. In most cases, they can only afford standard packages for ERP, CRM & Co. At the same time, these standard products often do not adequately map their processes. As a result, companies adapt their processes to the way the software works, rather than the other way around, or do without software support altogether. According to surveys, almost half of the 3.1 million small and medium-sized companies in Germany organize their business processes without special software support – using Excel spreadsheets or index cards. Unused possibilities and inefficient processes result in unnecessary but avoidable costs.

Software expert Novabit (www.novabit.de) is presenting a universal solution with its Nucleus Suite service factory. “Small and medium-sized companies often have neither the budget nor the IT expertise to implement their own developments. From now on, they no longer need to. With our platform, we enable a completely new type of application development,” explains Ramin Goettlich, Managing Director of Novabit. The universal application is free and open source. This means that small and medium-sized companies can implement their customized applications independently of providers and in a future-proof manner.

Configuration by the user himself

The service factory already contains all the building blocks and possible processes for mapping almost all conceivable business processes. They are already generically mapped in the platform, whereby the software technology is consistently separated from the application-specific characteristics of the business logic. Recurring basic functionalities, business processes and workflows are described using metadata and stored in the basis. They can then be set, extended or modified for specific use cases exclusively through configuration, i.e. without programming software code, and at runtime of the system. Ultimately, this is done by the user himself. Individual applications can thus be developed within a very short time, at a fraction of the previous costs, with short release cycles and a high level of customizability and software quality.
