Nuclos Open Source ERP ensures transparent project management at the Deutsche Glasfaser Group
Customizable software solution supports quotation planning and task management
Sauerlach, 11 December 2020 – The Deutsche Glasfaser Group optimizes the management of its new construction projects with Nuclos Open Source ERP (www.nuclos.de). The company uses the free open source ERP toolkit both for the detailed planning of quotation processes and for the clear mapping and control of all tasks and project steps. As a result, Deutsche Glasfaser benefits from maximum transparency of the entire project process, including detailed insights into the current status of the tasks to be completed. Thanks to individual adaptation of the software to the internal workflow, the company can flexibly create new configurations and add new tasks as required.
Transparent and consistent mapping of new construction projects
Deutsche Glasfaser plans, builds and operates direct fiber optic connections for private households and companies in order to ensure optimal broadband coverage in the respective region. Due to the sharp rise in demand for high-performance connections, the company is massively expanding its network infrastructure with new line capacities. If, for example, a customer wants to improve its network coverage and make it 5G-compatible, the expansion project must be thoroughly planned, taking into account the existing infrastructure in the area in question. In Nuclos, such projects can be mapped transparently and consistently – including all expansion stages, from the radio mast to the cable routes to the connection to the main network. Project managers can comprehensively analyze the route, estimate the expected costs for the construction of new capacity and create a realistic offer on this basis. Thanks to Nuclos, the customer receives a detailed overview of the feasibility and expected costs even before the project begins.
In addition, the open source ERP construction kit supports the management of tasks within the scope of the various construction projects: For example, the system precisely stores which requirements must be fulfilled to achieve a certain status. If the responsible employee reports the completion of a corresponding task, Nuclos automatically switches to the next status and creates a list of new tasks. For example, once a specific construction phase has been completed, an on-site inspection may be required or another subcontractor may need to be commissioned. The individual tasks are assigned specific information such as processor, due date or resubmission date. The system informs employees by email about upcoming tasks and due dates. This creates greater transparency across the entire project workflow for everyone involved. Deutsche Glasfaser manages up to 60 different task types in the tool, all of which can be freely configured.
Individual adaptation to existing processes
“Thanks to its modular structure, Nuclos can be used very flexibly. We can therefore optimally map our processes, including all the necessary associated information. The Novabit experts implement new requirements very quickly. We were able to adapt the tool to our requirements in a very short time, making it much easier for our planners and project managers to keep track of their numerous construction projects. The specially configured interfaces, which seamlessly exchange data with our project management and site management systems, and the specially programmed automations for document creation and validation also help to reduce the workload of our employees. They therefore also increase our scalability,” explains Christopher Paspalaris, Program Manager FTTS Planning & Implementation at Deutsche Glasfaser.
